Solution Description:

Historically the lack of optimized solutions available to military aircrew fir in flight urination has always been there. Active dehydration techniques by aircrew before flight serve only to reduce human performance but also increase risk. The prevalence of fewer overseas bases, aircraft carriers and the target set drives longer missions, pushing this issue to the forefront for many operators. Many legacy urination systems require the aircrew to unstrap or do not function correctly for female aircrew. Martin-Baker found itself answering a request from its customers to find a solution to this age old problem because of our unique understanding of the constraints of the military combat cockpit, aircrew flight equipment and ejection seat design. Martin-Baker derived a set of universal uroflowmetry requirements for both female and male aircrew. These requirements drove Martin-Baker to develop and patent an entirely new system called MARS – Martin-Baker Assisted Relief System. The MARS design that can be easily integrated into the aircrew flight equipment of any vendor / operator. It sits under any ejection seat harness so the in-flight urination function can be carried out easily, comfortably and safely by both female and male aircrew alike.
