Solution Description:

MATECH has developed a compliant, form-fitting interface to the female anatomy for the purpose of allowing comfortable bladder voiding during flight. The interface is small, comfortable, effective, and leakage-free. It connects to an ultra-compact high throughput pumping unit (25-30 cc/sec) capable of multi-mission operation between re-charges. The urine is transferred to a bladder (available in different sizes) where it is gelled for safe stowage. The system has been prototyped and undergone successful preliminary testing both internally and by pilots. The system is composed of the interface (which fits to the user's body), the pump unit (which controls the unit’s operation and transfers the urine from the interface to the stowage bladder) and the stowage bladder. Although the system was developed for female pilots, it is equally effective for male individuals. Its design embodies years of work on the problem of effectively interfacing with the female anatomy for the purpose of urine capture. Our latest designs have been validated and tested successfully. Although there is quite a bit of work remaining to produce a deployable product, our concept, ideas, and engineering have been proven effective and to meet its target objectives during testing by qualified individuals.
